Coat — Short, fine, sleek, close single coat; minimal grooming and low odour.

Recognised colours — Classic black-and-tan, or solid black, with tan points; the related Maya Kanni appears in other solid colours.

Temperament

Loyal, gentle, dignified and intensely faithful — the name 'Kanni' means 'maiden', reflecting its prized devotion. Reserved with strangers, deeply bonded to family.

Care & Training

Trainability — Moderate — intelligent and sensitive but independent; gentle, consistent, respectful training works best.

Grooming — Very low. Occasional wipe-down.

Good with — Best with its own family; faithful and gentle with its people, naturally aloof with outsiders, with a strong prey drive.
