Origin & Coat

Origin — Tamil Nadu, India (Kombai region)

Coat — Short, dense, coarse single coat lying close to the skin; minimal grooming.

Recognised colours — Reddish-brown to tan, usually with a black mask and dark muzzle; a black line along the spine is common.

Temperament

Bold, brave, alert and intensely protective. A historic Indian boar-hunting and guardian breed — fearless and devoted to family, watchful and wary of strangers.

Care & Training

Trainability — Moderate — intelligent and trainable with respect, but independent and strong-willed; needs confident, consistent handling and early socialisation.

Grooming — Very low. Occasional wipe-down.

Good with — A devoted family guardian; loyal and protective with its people, naturally wary of outsiders, with strong guarding and prey instincts.
